NewJeans Choose New Stage Names For The Day — Netizens React To Their Unexpected Picks

NewJeans were the most recent artists to participate in iHeartRadio and Most Requested Live‘s Ask Anything Chat.

During the fun interview, the members answered fan-submitted questions, discussing everything from what they did during Chuseok, to how they would describe their music to new listeners, and their hopes for the future.

One fan asked for a group roll call, requesting that the members tell viewers where they’re from and share their stage names.

Instead of just introducing themselves, Hanni asked her fellow members if they could choose their own stage names for the day. Danielle replied, “Just for the day,” and the members agreed, choosing unique new stage names.

Here’s what they chose!

1. Hanni

Member Hanni (full name Hanni Pham) introduced herself, telling viewers she’s from Melbourne, Australia, before choosing the stage name “Cherry Pham.”

2. Danielle

Danielle answered that she grew up in Australia and Korea before choosing the new stage name, “Jerry Jamaica.”

3. Minji

NewJeans’ Minji introduced herself, letting viewers know she’s from Korea before deciding to keep her same stage name.

4. Haerin

Haerin, from Korea, took Danielle’s suggestion and chose the stage name “Vanessa.” Minji and Hanni added that Haerin “really looked like [a] Vanessa” that day.

5. Hyein

Finally, maknae Hyein, also from Korea, chose the unique stage name “Colin” for the day.

Netizens reacted to the new names, noting Danielle’s hilariously unserious response and Hanni’s love for the nickname Cherry, which fans lovingly called her before her debut.
