SHINee’s Taemin Would “Rewind Time” To Claim One K-Pop Artist’s Hit Song
SHINee‘s Taemin recently celebrated his 15th debut anniversary with his fellow members, and it’s been nine years since he made his successful solo debut.
Recently, he made his highly-anticipated solo comeback and has increased his promotional appearances on variety programs, catching up with fellow artists and Shawols after spending much of the last two years out of the spotlight due to fulfilling his mandatory military service.
He recently appeared on soloist Lee Mujin‘s musical talk show Leemujin Service, and during the program, he opened up about his struggles as a trainee and how much work he really put into becoming a successful all-rounder.
Lee Mujin discussed the variety within SHINee’s discography, as well as Taemin’s solo releases, and noted that people must have been shocked when Taemin transformed from his group’s maknae with a “young and fresh” image into a “mature, sexy man” with his solo debut.
Lee Mujin felt that many of Taemin’s solo songs had a “sexy” feel to them, and wondered if there was another genre that he wanted to try.
Taemin replied that he was interested in trying many different genres, naming Lee Mujin’s hit “Traffic Light,” an upbeat folk song with jazzy elements that peaked at number one on Billboard’s K-Pop Hot 100 chart in 2021, as a musical example of what he would like to do in the future.
The SHINee member playfully declared that, if he could, he would “rewind the time and make the song [his].” Lee Mujin jokingly told Taemin that the song, which the talented soloist wrote and composed, was not for sale.
Taemin understood and hilariously concluded that he would write the song before Lee Mujin when he traveled back in time.
While Taemin may not be able to travel back in time to write “Traffic Light,” he was able to join Lee Mujin for a fun duet of Girls’ Generation‘s legendary debut song, “Into The New World,” to close out the Leemujin Service episode.
