HyunA’s Been Avoiding Interviews And Is Ready To Explain Why
Popular soloist HyunA recently found a new home with AT AREA, a record label co-founded by the South Korean hip-hop producer duo GroovyRoom.
On November 5, it was confirmed that she signed a new contract with the label after leaving her former company, PSY‘s P NATION, in August 2022.
To celebrate signing with her new company, HyunA recently released a new documentary, AT AREA PRESENTS ‘Documentary: Girl with Attitude, that explained why she decided to join AT AREA, her personal goals for her music, her thoughts about her 16-year-long career in entertainment, and more.
The documentary also showed interviews with AT AREA staff members, including GroovyRoom’s two producers Park Gyu Jeong and Lee Hwi Min, and producer Kwaca.
Kwaca praised HyunA, stating that artists need to have an “unrivaled voice,” which the famous soloist had already established.
GroovyRoom revealed they thoroughly researched HyunA while they were in discussions to sign a contract with her.
From reading her interviews to searching for information on the web, they felt they found a lot but didn’t find much about the “human” side of HyunA, the person behind the mega celeb.
HyunA admitted that she had intentionally avoided interviews recently, explaining that she finds it difficult to let people, even her family members, know when she’s struggling.
Instead, she prefers to “pull [herself] together” before appearing in front of others.
She shared that she was afraid of “admitting it” and thought she would be able to endure it if she could look past it.
However, repressing those feelings instead of opening up about them made her fatigued.
HyunA’s eyes are set on her next chapter, and she’s working on new music that will show a new side of the solo artist.
