Netizens Outraged At A Korean Mother Who Hit Her Kid For Buying Flowers For Her Birthday

A woman and her husband have been handed over to trial for the habitual abuse of their elementary school-aged sons, and netizens are outraged at their horrible parenting.

On December 5, the Suwon District Prosecutors’ Office Women’s Children’s Crime Investigation Division announced that the woman, identified as A, was indicted on charges of violating the Child Welfare Act, and B was indicted without detention.

A was accused of habitually physically and emotionally abusing her elementary school stepsons with beatings using an iron rod from May 2021 to December 2022. She also didn’t allow them to eat, stating they “didn’t deserve to eat.” A faces charges of 23 instances of habitual physical and emotional abuse and neglect.

It was revealed through the investigation that A’s elder son bought her a flower basket as a birthday present. However, A hit his palm with the iron rod several times, saying, “Why is a little kid spending money recklessly?”

Additionally, it was confirmed that she habitually abused the younger son while drunk by making him lie on the bed and hitting his face to the point of bleeding. A was also revealed to have expelled her sons from the house on Christmas Eve last year, stating, “It’s too difficult to raise them anymore.”

The father, identified as B, who is the children’s biological father, was confirmed to have been aware of A’s crimes from June to December last year. Despite his knowledge, he tolerated it and joined in hitting the children on nine occasions.

These horrid crimes came to light when relatives who received calls from the two songs reported the abuse to the police. A teacher at the kids’ school also reported to the police after noticing signs of child abuse, such as the brothers eating noticeably more than other students during meals and arriving at school with bruises.

Currently, the two brothers are under the protection of relatives. A was sent to the prosecutor’s office without detention in July following an investigation. After further investigation, the court issued a warrant for their arrest at the end of last month.

A prosecution official stated that they will respond sternly to crimes that abuse socially vulnerable children and continue to pay attention to providing economic and psychological support to the victimized children.
