Moon Chae Won Impacted By Celebrity Drug Scandal — Refutes Reports
Actress Moon Chae Won refuted SBS‘s claims that she declined an offer to attend the 2023 SBS Drama Awards, the broadcasting company’s year-end award show.
Previously, it was reported that Moon Chae Won would not be attending the event, which is scheduled to take place on December 29.
The reports stated the actress has decided to forfeit the award show despite making her return to the small screen through SBS’s successful K-Drama Payback. The project was Moon Chae Won’s first K-Drama in two years.
The reports suggested that Moon Chae Won’s decision was impacted by her co-star Lee Sun Kyun‘s drug scandal. The actor has found himself at the center of drug allegations that have gripped the nation. Lee Sun Kyun has since tested negative for drugs.
On December 8, Moon Chae Won’s representatives officially refuted the claims made in prior reports, stating that they had never given an answer to the invite.

Ilgan Sports released a report on this day stating that the actor’s representatives were taken aback by the reports claiming she wouldn’t attend the show and that their hesitancy to confirm may have been misunderstood in light of Lee Sun Kyun’s scandal.
Meanwhile, Lee Sun Kyun is still being investigated for his alleged drug use. Reports stated that despite the actor testing negative for drugs on three separate tests, the police are continuing their investigation based on self-criminalizing text messages that Lee Sun Kyun had sent to a sex worker whom he reportedly met at an exclusive brothel.
