Some of our favorite BTS songs will likely never be performed again.

In May 2020, composer Bobby Jung, also known as Jung Dae Wook of the indie band Autumn Vacation, was accused of illegally filming and sexually assaulting victim ‘B,’ a 20-year-old aspiring singer whom he was dating. Although it received much media attention, especially as it led to the victim committing suicide, he pleaded “not guilty” during the trial, and the case was dismissed.

However, when another filed her case in February, the prosecution merged the two cases and indicted Jung without detention last year under the Sexual Violence Crime Penalty Act. The Seoul Western District Court ultimately sentenced Jung to 40 hours of sexual violence education along with jail time and a five-year ban from working at any facilities that serve children, young people, or disabled people. He is now imprisoned for a year over charges of illegally filming a nude woman without her consent.

Jung filmed victim ‘A’s body illegally without consent, and the victim is experiencing significant mental shock and humiliation. While the victim’s side is requesting severe punishment for Jung’s action, Jung did not demonstrate an attitude of reflection. Taking into account that Jung did not distribute this footage to anyone, and that he has no similar offense, Jung is hereby sentenced to 1 year in prison.

While this sentencing was nearly a year ago now, many ARMYs are just now hearing the news due to the recent release of BTS – PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE in THE US DVD. According to ARMYs, many favorite songs, including “Love Myself,” “Love Maze,” “I’m Fine,” “HOME,” “Filter,” “Dream Glow,” and “134340” might be censored by HYBE. Both “Love Maze” and “HOME” were deleted from the DVD, and the common denominator is that Bobby Jung has worked on all of these songs.

While ARMYs were initially shocked and disappointed, most agree that Bobby Jung needs to be held accountable. Still, it’s unfortunate that others who worked on the songs are punished due to his actions.
