Remembering The Beautiful K-Pop Idol Who Was Murdered By Her Ex-Boyfriend

A K-Pop idol met her untimely demise at the hands of her ex-boyfriend.

Lee Eun Mi was born on January 17, 1987. After demonstrating a love for singing her whole life, she debuted in the group IRIS at just 18 years old.

IRIS was an all-female trot group under Fly 21 Entertainment. They debuted in 2005 with their single album Message of Love and were active in the early 2000s.

Lee Eun Mi broke up with her boyfriend, Cho, some time in 2011.

On June 19, 2011 at around 2AM KST, the beautiful K-Pop idol was stalked by Cho while on her way home. He then stabbed her 65 times on her head and abdomen before being arrested at a rest stop nearby.

It was reported by police three days later that Cho was enraged by Lee Eun Mi after she broke up with him despite their discussions of marriage.

The singer’s sister posted a notice about her death on Lee Eun Mi’s Cyworld mini homepage.

Lee Eun Mi’s friend also shared a message of sadness at the singer’s passing, saying, “Eun Mi is sleeping. She’s a dongsaeng I met through Mano Entertainment and is also the main vocalist for a group named IRIS. I will be attending her funeral tonight. I hope you go to a better place, Eun Mi.””
