On January 25, GQ Magazine published an interview with the star.

In the interview, a journalist asked the actress if she had hesitated to star in the upcoming K-Drama, Queen Of Divorce.

If you just look at the subject of the project, I think you might have hesitated in choosing the K-Drama.

In the series, the actress plays the role of Kim Sa Ra, a divorcee who was sentenced to prison due to her husband’s betrayal.

Lee Ji Ah then responded curtly, asking why the journalist felt that way.

Why? Why does it have to be a sensitive topic? I never thought of it that way.

Lee Ji Ah then went on to ask the journalist why she should be careful about playing a divorcee.

There are many people who marry and then divorce for their happiness. (Divorce) isn’t some rare event; it is an every day event, and I don’t know why I should be sensitive about it.

The journalist didn’t relent, however, and asked if she felt that her experience from her own divorce had helped her play the role to which Lee Ji Ah explained that it wasn’t necessarily her divorce that helped her.

I felt I could understand the role better, but it wasn’t because of my marriage and divorce. Rather, I felt it was because I have had painful experiences with people in my life. It felt like I was able to look down on the character from above and empathize with her.

Meanwhile, Lee Ji Ah was at the center of one of Korea’s biggest controversies when she was found to have secretly married and divorced the legendary singer Seo Taiji.
