Why K-Drama Viewers Dropped These “Disappointing” Series In January

There was too much happening at once for some viewers.

Whether it’s the actors, the show’s writers, or both, sometimes a K-Drama misses the mark for viewers. Here are six series that viewers found so disappointing they couldn’t stand to finish them.

1. My Demon (2023)

Song Kang and Kim Yoo Jung‘s acting in the romantic fantasy wasn’t what stopped viewers from watching the drama.

Viewers “started to dread watching it” because of the plot, which came across as rushed and poorly executed.

2. Welcome to Samdal-ri (2023)

Viewers also took issue with the plot of Shin Hye Sun and Ji Chang Wook‘s Welcome to Samdal-ri.

They found the side characters’ storylines more interesting than the main plot. Viewers were also confused about what the drama’s central message was.

3. A Good Day to Be a Dog (2023)

Viewers didn’t finish A Good Day to Be a Dog for an entirely different reason than the previous dramas.

Once the main characters sealed the deal on their romance by finally getting together, there wasn’t enough plot to keep viewers’ attention afterward.

4. My Love from the Star (2013)

Although Kim Soo Hyun and Jun Ji Hyun‘s romantic fantasy was a hit over ten years ago, it hasn’t aged well for some.

Viewers thought the show was “too dated” and wished for a strong female character as the lead.

5. My Man Is Cupid (2023)

While many K-Dramas can seamlessly blend multiple genres into one, My Man Is Cupid wasn’t one of them—according to viewers.

They found the switch from a romantic comedy to a murder mystery incredibly jarring.

6. Strong Girl Nam Soon (2023)

Despite Strong Girl Nam Soon being called the “worst” K-Drama of the year, there are moments where it shined. However, viewers continue to find things about the drama that didn’t meet expectations.

The drama went from fun to “cringe” for some viewers because of the main character’s exaggerated personality.
