K-Pop Fans Show Overwhelming Support For Megan Thee Stallion Amid Nicki Minaj Beef
Content Warning
If you have been on the internet in the last few days, there is no doubt you have seen something about what is happening between Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion.
The two rappers, once friends, have been engaged in beef that supposedly was first hinted at by a line in Nicki Minaj’s “FTCU.” The line “Stay in your Tory Lanez, b*tch, I’m not Iggy,” was said to be a reference to rapper and convicted criminal Tory Lanez shooting Megan in 2020 and rapper Iggy Azalea writing a letter of support for Lanez during his trial.
The feud was reignited with the release of Megan Thee Stallion’s “Hiss,” where she discussed multiple parts of her life. The line “These hoes don’t be mad at Megan, these hoes mad at Megan’s Law,” immediately caught attention due to the law mentioned.
Megan’s Law is the federal law that requires law enforcement to make information about registered sex offenders readily available and is named after Megan Kanka, a 7-year-old who was murdered in 1994 by a neighbor who was previously convicted of child molestation.
Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, is a registered sex offender following his conviction in 1994 for the attempted rape of a 16-year-old, a fact recently highlighted by his failure to register, earning him three years of probation. Minaj’s brother, Jelani Maraj, is also an offender, being sentenced to 25 years to life for the repeated rapes of an 11-year-old in 2020 following a 2015 arrest.
Minaj took these lyrics as a direct attack and spent several days after the release speaking about Megan, her deceased mother, and her alleged sexual history, culminating in the release of “Big Foot,” a shot at Megan’s injury following the Tory Lanez shooting.
Your flow is such a bore
Drinkin a bottle of henny through a straw.
Bitch you better stop dat dialogue
Before I hit Carl & buy your catalogSigh
How you fuck your mother man when she die?
How you go on GAYLE KING and can’t cry?
Chile….Bye

Many have sided with Megan in this instance, especially due to her line in “Hiss” not being directed toward anyone in particular and Minaj’s outrage being seen as her continued defending of sexual predators.
Naturally, as with all major issues online, K-Pop fans have chimed in, with a majority showing support for Megan, mentioning her collaboration with BTS.

Others have even “K-Popped” Megan, saying that fans should begin supporting her in the same ways they do K-Pop idols.
it’s time we start treating megan like a k-pop idol. i want an aegyo compilation. a “megan once said” video that’s 5 minutes long. and “megan as tv remotes” thread..for the plot.
