“Should Be Banned” — Red Velvet’s Seulgi Denies A Fan’s “Inappropriate” Video Call Request
The creation of online video calls has offered many positive benefits. Fans unable to make the journey to Korea for in-person events can interact with their favorite idols, and idols can see exactly how far their popularity reaches.
Unfortunately, as with all things, video calls have some negatives, the biggest of which is the sometimes uncomfortable interactions idols deal with from some fans. In the past few months, videos of fans taking things too far have gone viral.

Fans often hope that idols can stand up for themselves in this situation, and Red Velvet‘s Seulgi recently did just that!
During a recent video call event, a fan asked Seulgi if she would participate in a challenge video. This is not something out of the ordinary, as other idols have done the same.

With Seulgi, the fan requested she do a challenge popular on Chinese social media. The challenge involves the person miming as though they are holding the back of someone’s neck and then making a slapping motion as though they were hitting their butt, implying a sexual act.
Aespa‘s Karina was previously requested to do the same challenge.

When Seulgi was asked to do this, she emphatically said no, turning down the request.
After seeing the clip, fans later expressed happiness that Seulgi denied the “inappropriate request” but also hoped action would be taken against those who make those kinds of requests.
please ask idols APPROPRIATE challenges. it does not mean its popular, its okay for them to do it. also, dont ever say its your own money, you can ask them whatever you want, these IDOLS are HUMAN TOO!

idols should be allowed to hang up on fancalls in cases like this because some of you genuinely dont know boundaries and they have to put up with shit like this https://t.co/8SbHtMCAKy

the challenge itself is awful and asking her to do it is honestly sexual harassment to me https://t.co/DqQGudOiKh
