BTS‘s VJimin, and Jungkook surprised fans with a maknae line livestream after their first show for their PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE LA tour. It was as chaotic and hilarious as you’d expect! They followed a clever format where V pretended to be an online content creator interviewing Jimin and Jungkook.

Jimin then said that he and Jungkook opened up their own channel — though he accidentally said a YouTube channel instead of VLIVE!

Jimin couldn’t think of a channel name for them at first, but quickly came up with one that combines his and Jungkook’s names: MinKook!

Jimin had actually used “MinKook” as a potential name for a Jimin and Jungkook duo years ago, but “JiKook” had become more popular. However, maybe it’s time for “MinKook” to shine!

V, Jungkook, and Jimin immediately burst into laughter when Jimin revealed this as their channel name. One reason they cracked up might have been the traditional meaning of the name. In Korean, “MinKook” is spelled the same as minguk, which is one-half of South Korea’s name: Daehan Minguk!

If that phrase sounds familiar to you, perhaps you’ve heard it on the show The Return of Superman! The Song triplets, DaehanMinguk, and Manse, were named after a common cheer that means, “Long live the Republic of Korea.”

Jungkook even referenced a popular clip of the middle triplet, Minguk, after Jimin announced MinKook as their channel name. He said, “Private Minggukie,” as a soldier would say when introducing themselves.

In an episode of The Return of Superman, the triplets went to a military camp to experience a bit of military life. While introducing himself to the commander, Minguk adorably said “Private Minggukie” instead of “Private Song Minguk,” which would have been the proper way to state his name.

Whether they were cracking up at the meaning of the name, Song Minguk’s iconic clip, or something else, one thing’s for sure: ARMY quickly fell in love with the new nickname for Jimin and Jungkook!
