BTS’s V Updates Fans With His New Weight After Enlisting — Netizens React
BTS‘s V has made ARMYs smile after revealing his weight after enlisting in the military.
At the end of 2023, ARMYs went through an emotional time as the remaining members of BTS enlisted for their mandatory service. The first to go was BTS’s V and RM, who were joined by all the members for a send off with an emotional OT7 reunion for fans.
Luckily, fans were taken on the journey as RM and V said goodbye to the members but felt reassured that they were enlisting together.
V even made sure to chat with ARMYs right until the moment he and RM had to go.
On February 14, BTS’s V surprised fans by returning to Weverse. While idols are not as active while enlisting, soldiers are allowed their phones for a restricted amount of time, so it’s always heartwarming when artists use them to communicate with fans.
In the post, V did an “interim” report where he checked in with fans and in particular, he gained attention after revealing his new weight of 72.5kg.
I’ll do an interim report.
72.5kg achieved
I’ll be back. Salute.— BTS’s V
While it’s not unexpected or surprising for male idols to share their weight, the reason that V gained attention was because of the gain he had achieved. In particular, netizens have always showcased their concerns when V reveals his weight, like in 2022 when they shared concerns about the low 63.4kg number shown on the scales.
Before enlisting, V revealed that he was 62kg, which was even lower. But during the final broadcast, V and the other members joked about a bulk-up competition, where V wanted to reach 86kg while in the army.
🐻: 현재 62kg지만 86kg 찍어보겠다
-> 🐨 어떻게든 말릴테니 걱정말라
🐰: 현재 70kg고 98kg 찍겠다

RM: I heard that skinnier men grow muscle and bigger men shed pounds [in the military].
V: Actually, I’m- You see, I’m on the slimmer side right now.
RM: Yeah, how much do you weigh?
V: Right now, 62 kilograms.
RM: Oh, so slim.
V: I slimmed down to 62. But I’d like to go back up to 86.
It meant that when netizens read V’s post, they felt relieved that the idol was eating well but also worried because the idol was probably buffing up, similar to what netizens saw with Jin and J-Hope. Mostly, netizens were happy to see that V was healthy while serving.

Explaining why Taehyung’s sharing his weight and how it ties in with his goal of becoming fitter and stronger in the military:
