Popular Korean Composer’s Erratic Behavior While Allegedly On Drugs Gets Caught On CCTV
On February 26, KST, a composer in his 30s, identified as Mr. Choi, was arrested by the Gangnam Police Station on charges of using illegal drugs and damaging property.
The incident occurred on February 22, KST, when Mr. Choi allegedly used narcotics and caused a disturbance at an unmanned café in Gangnam. He reportedly damaged the establishment’s furniture and walked out. He was then seen walking shirtless on the streets while it was snowing.
After the media reported the incident, disturbing footage of Choi’s seemingly disoriented behavior was revealed to the world by JTBC. The channel’s Newsroom showed CCTV captures of him walking around Seoul while allegedly under the influence.
In the video, Choi could be seen entering the parking lot of a church, showing signs of disorientation. He broke into erratic behavior after being approached by the church manager and ended up injuring himself and leaving the scene. According to the manager, when he tried to approach Choi, who was clearly struggling to balance himself, the composer apparently responded by saying, “I sometimes go crazy.”
Other witness accounts state that the composer continued to roam the streets in a similar state and even danced with his clothes in disarray at one point.
After the February 22 incident, a passerby reported him to the police, who then took Choi into custody for his own safety. Coincidentally, on the same day, someone reported about a syringe found in a café, which was later confirmed to belong to Choi. The police did a rapid drug test, which came back positive, and consequently, Choi was detained.
