According to a report by South China Morning Post (SCMP), Wang Xiaoqing, who is 173cm, or approximately 5’7″ tall, shared she had spoken to a man on the popular messaging platform, WeChat, and he had informed her that he felt she was too tall and didn’t believe they would match well together because he was 180cm, or approximately 5’9″.

The guy had ultimately informed her that he was looking for “someone who is morexiao niao yi ren,’according to the SCMP report.

Xiao Niao Yi Ren is an idiom meaning “like a little bird relying on people” and is used as a way to describe someone as “cute and helpless looking.

Wang Xiaoqing halted communication with the man, feeling insecure about her height for the first time.

Among online dating profiles, men in China often list preferences for women who fit the description of the idiom Xiao Niao Yi Ren, and as the number of single individuals in China continues to increase, people are reporting even higher standards that they look for in a future partner, according to SCMP.
