Netizens Unimpressed By SM Entertainment’s “Celebrate Spring” Merchandise
It seems like SM Entertainment just can’t get a break lately between idols leaving the company, the scandals surrounding RIIZE, criticism around Lucas‘s solo debut, and a general sense of uncertainty and confusion about the future of the label and its artists. Despite all of this, though, it seems like the company is determined to continue trying to profit from their artists’ fans, and the latest method is through a “Celebrate Spring” merch collection.
But fans don’t seem too impressed by what’s being offered in the collection. One of the pieces offered is a baseball cap paired with a photocard, with different colors representing different artists and the words “Knockin’ on your heart” written on all of them. However, people are confused about the choice of colors for some of the artists, and are also wondering why SHINee, NCT, and RIIZE aren’t included. The set costs 39,000 won, or about $29.50 USD.
One of the better-received items is a mirror keyring, which also has the same phrase as the caps written on the outside. At 22,000 won (or about $16.50 USD), though, it is a bit on the expensive side for what it is.
Finally, the last piece of merch is a set including a hair pin and a scrunchie, both of which have the same phrase on them as the previous pieces. For just these two items, the cost is 18,000 won (or about $13.50 USD).
Here’s how netizens are reacting to this unexpected and arguably unasked for merchandise collection.
Will you be buying anything from the set?
