Popular K-Pop Act Announces Their Fandom Name For The First Time After 10 Years
AKMU (also known as Akdong Musician), the South Korean duo consisting of siblings Lee Chan Hyuk and Lee Su Hyun, is celebrating their 10th anniversary!
AKMU is celebrating their 10th anniversary with a special surprise for their fans. On March 21, their company, YG Entertainment, released posters via their official social media accounts.
We have prepared a variety of projects to give back to the fans who have loved and supported AKMU over the past decade and have been with us on that music journey. We plan to work closely with AKMU to expand their ‘universe’ with more dedication, so please look forward to it.

YG Entertainment announced AKMU’s 10th Anniversary Project. In doing so, AKMU’s official fandom name was revealed for the first time in 10 years since their debut! AKMU’s fandom is called “AKKADEMY,” a combination of the two words “AKMU” and “ACADEMY.”
Their fandom name means an organization that is at the center of art. Similarly, the vintage concept of the posters included an emblem that resembled the imagery we see in schools.
While AKMU debuted on April 7, 2014, with the first full-length album, PLAY, after winning SBS K-pop Star 2, the duo did not have an official fandom name until now.
AKMU’s global fan club membership is available through Weverse Shop, from March 21 at 2 p.m. KST until April 4.
