5 Actresses “Unbelievably” Miscast Cast In Their K-Dramas
Spoiler Alert
While there are times when it seems like a role was created for an actor or actress, there are also times on the other end of the spectrum. The stars miscast in their roles are seen as such for various reasons and are sometimes enough to ruin the watching experience.
Here are five actresses that were miscast in their series, according to viewers.
1. Hong Su Zu — The Impossible Heir
Hong Su Zu‘s role in The Impossible Heir, Na Hye Won, is the actress’s first time in a lead role where she is the daughter of a debt collector.
When a compilation of her acting was shared online, netizens felt she was poorly cast due to her acting skills. This even continued on her Instagram account, where netizens filled the comments with criticism.
2. Jeon Do Yeon — Crash Course In Romance
The popular series Crash Course In Romance was regarded by many as one of 2023’s best dramas. However, many viewers did find issues with Jeon Do Yeon‘s casting as the female lead.
The female lead was implied to be in her 30s and look too young to be a mother, but Jeon Do Yeon, who is in her 50s, looks her age making this a bit unbelievable. This made many unable to suspend their disbelief, especially when Jeon Do Yeon appeared alongside the male lead, Jung Kyung Ho.
3. BoA — Marry My Husband
BoA appeared in 2023’s most discussed drama, Marry My Husband, as Na In Woo‘s fiancé.
In addition to hateful comments about her appearance, netizens attacked her acting skills, saying she caused them to “lose focus” on the drama.
- I lose focus whenever BoA appears… Why does she have so many scenes? Why is she boxing?
- I didn’t know it when she sang, but her tone of voice was really annoying, and I couldn’t focus on the drama because of it.
- It’s not like BoA can’t act… But I am sure she was miscast.
- But she really sucks at acting, lol.
- Why does she keep lifting her face when she talks? It’s not that I don’t like her because she’s a villain, it’s just that her acting sucks.
- Now that I keep focusing on her over-lip, I can see Jung Soo Min’s over-lip. Park Min Young is the only one who draws her lips like a normal person. What’s with the over-lip?
- She seriously sucks at acting, sigh. I am forcing myself to watch this because of the time I have already invested in the drama.
- Villains get criticized because the actors did a good job, but BoA is a different story…
- I don’t think she should ever act again.
- Sigh, BoA has so many scenes
4. Go Ara — Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth
Many fondly remember Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth for its bromance amongst the male cast members, which included Park Hyung Sik, Park Seo Joon, and BTS‘s V.
However, the casting of Go Ara as the female lead and romantic interest did not fit in more ways than one for some. Viewers felt that Go Ara did not connect with the character, leaving a gap that was too obvious not to notice.

5. Kim Yoo Jung — My Demon
While My Demon was initially praised for having a “visual couple” as the main leads, this quickly proved not enough to disregard the “bad acting” from Song Kang and Kim Yoo Jung.
When the program’s rating took a huge plunge, netizens felt that neither character, including Kim Yoo Jung, suited the character they played.
- Neither of the leads suit the characters that they are portraying… And they suck at acting. I don’t think the casting was successful.
- Song Kang should admit that his pronunication sucks and he should work on improving it. Once he completes his military service, he’s going to be in his 30s… So I think My Demon is going to be his greatest work, visual-wise. Had he worked on his acting skills a bit more, it could’ve been his greatest work, period. But no. Such a bummer. And Kim Yoo Jung can’t seem to pull off the right adult roles. Something about her styling for this show is off, too. I don’t think the director is all that good at creating aesthetic scenes. I’m just sad about it all because I’ve been following the episodes up until last night’s. But I’m running out of interest in watching what is basically a Song Kang editorial. I might switch to just watching reruns. Too bad the script sucks and the directing is weak.
- Song Kang’s acting is WTF. Even Kim Yoo Jung’s is questionable for this show.
