ZEROBASEONE’s Ricky Appears To Do A NSFW Hand Gesture In Public… But There’s An Explanation
Considering how K-Pop idols seem to be constantly filmed whenever they’re in public, most of them seem to always be on their best behavior in case there are cameras around to capture them. There have even been controversies over moments of bad behavior or rudeness that have been caught on film that end up negatively impacting an idol’s reputation, so it’s not often that you’ll catch one of them acting out of line in public!
Recently, though, a hand gesture made by ZEROBASEONE‘s Ricky while at the airport caught attention due to the seemingly NSFW nature of it.
In the clip, Ricky is seen walking with a couple of his fellow members and hasn’t noticed that they’re being filmed. As he’s walking, he makes what some think appears to be a “fingering” gesture with his hand towards Taerae. What adds an even more questionable element to the gesture is how Taerae and Gyuvin react — the former by going on his phone, and the latter by looking panicked and reaching for Ricky’s hand.
Ricky himself then realizes what happened and also gets a panicked look on his face as he stops the gesture.
According to fans, though, there wasn’t any ulterior or inappropriate meaning behind the gesture. They’ve shared that this is called the “bitna” gesture, which is taken from the choreography for the Boys Planet song “Here I Am” and has ended up being a bit of a joke among the members.
Even Gyuvin clarified the gesture on Bubble!

And it turns out that Ricky went on to do the gesture again anyway, even after getting “caught”.

Netizens are reacting to the incident with amusement, realizing that Ricky likely didn’t mean anything by the gesture but likely realized how it could have been perceived.
We doubt this will be the last time we see ZEROBASEONE’s members doing this playful hand movement!
