“People In The World Are Very Aggressive To Us” — IVE’s Wonyoung Talks About Hyperscrutiny Of Female Idols
Wonyoung recently talked about an upcoming song that we can look forward to from IVE‘s 2nd EP Switch.
The song “Blue Heart” lists Wonyoung in the songwriting credits as the writer of the Korean lyrics. Fans are ready to hear what Wonyoung has written, but after a recent sneak peek into the serious topic of the song, netizens are both equally nervous and excited.
NYLON shares that the hyperscrutiny Wonyoung and other female idols often face from media and the general public will be the topic of the song, as it’s inspired by her own experiences.
Wonyoung adds a sixth songwriting credit to her name with a song called “Blue Heart.” It was inspired by her “work in this industry,” she says, seemingly alluding to the hyperscrutiny idols, specifically female idols, experience from the media and netizens.

Wonyoung reveals that the title “Blue Heart” comes from the idea of making your heart “icy” and “blue” to avoid getting hurt, rather than staying soft and warm with a “red” heart. From years of pressure in the industry, these effects could very well happen to K-Pop idols, specifically female idols who are often unfairly painted as the targets of scandals.
People in the world [are] very aggressive to us. So some girls choose an icy blue heart more than a warm red heart so you can be strong.
— Wonyoung
Fans couldn’t be more excited to hear what Wonyoung has to say in the song, proving once again that she’s the ultimate girl’s girl!
honestly wonyoung rarely ever opens up about the struggles she goes through so i'm glad that she gives us a window into her mind through her songwriting 🥹 looking forward to what she has to say on blue heart
