Netizens Accuse Min Hee Jin Of Copying Another Girl Group For NewJeans
Amidst the raging conversations about ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin’s claims of HYBE “copying” her creative direction of NewJeans, a post accusing her of doing the same has gone viral in Korea.
The ongoing battle of power between Min Hee Jin and HYBE has unearthed some unexpected accusations from the former. In an official statement, ADOR claimed that HYBE had plagiarized NewJeans for their newest girl group ILLIT. Later, reports came out revealing that ADOR has made similar claims about BTS as well.
But netizens feel that Min Hee Jin herself is guilty of the crime she accused HYBE of. On April 23, a user pointed out that a music video titled “Body & Soul” from the Japanese girl group SPEED strongly resembled NewJeans’ debut music video, “Attention.” SPEED’s video was released on August 5, 1996.
From the styling to many of the scenes in “Body & Soul,” netizens strongly agreed that it was suspiciously similar to “Attention,” counter-accusing Min Hee Jin of “plagiarizing” SPEED.
- “Seeing how they are warning not to act like ‘Weebs,’ it looks like that strategy worked well in shutting up people.”
- “You’re drunk on your own f*cking lies. Wake up.”
- “It’s f*cking similar. Chills.”
- “They’re a plagiarized group!”
- “Weebs.”
- “Wow.”
- “It looks similar to ‘Attention.’”
- “Shutting down Min Hee Jin lol.”
- “It does look very similar…It seems like the silence was well-maintained because of anti-Japanese sentiment.”
- “I saw the music video, I don’t understand what part is similar?”
- “How is she saying others copied her when she copied from someone too lol.”
