K-Netizens Are Divided On IVE’s “HEYA” Performance
A mix of traditional and modern!
K-pop girl group IVE recently returned with the second EP, IVE SWITCH, and dropped the official music video for “HEYA.”
The traditional cultural elements of the video and song gave them a unique touch and showcased a concept they had never done before.
But trying something new always comes with its pros and cons from the public. While most enjoyed the Studio Choom performance, some netizens felt that the dance felt out of place.
- “Did they not have enough time to prepare? Why do they all feel out of place? Wonyoung looks pretty and suits the outfit well.”
- “The song is really good but a bit disappointed in the choreography.”
They felt that the choreography didn’t fit well with the members’ proportions.
- “The song is great, and the visuals and makeup are crazy, but the choreography is disappointing. I’ve been disappointed since ‘I AM.’ All the members have great proportions and long arms and legs, but they can’t seem to put them to good use. I’m always a bit dissatisfied with the dance. But I still hope this song does well.”
- “The dance looks a bit messy and out of place. They use a lot of their hands but I don’t know if it’s the angle, height, or speed, but it’s a bit scattered. But the song and the makeup are great.”
But, most netizens felt that the performance was great and couldn’t wait to see the music broadcast version.
- “Maybe it’s because I saw the comments first, but the choreography looks good to me? It shows off the lines really well and suits IVE.”
- “The dance looks fine to me. The camera work is a bit messy because they’re trying to show the movement, but I think it will look good on music broadcasts.”
- “I knew Wonyoung was good at dancing, but her lines are also really pretty. The maknae is cute too.”
