Girls’ Generation’s Tiffany Almost Didn’t Make It Into The Group, But This Was What Saved Her

We’re glad she made it in!

Girls’ Generation remains one of K-Pop’s most successful groups ever. They are known to be the textbook for girl groups, with many later generations of singers looking up to them. The road to debut was not easy. The line-up was revised repeatedly before they debuted the final nine.

In fact, they were contending around 12 trainees during pre-debut times.

Little did fans know that Tiffany almost didn’t make it to debut. The star confessed during a recent episode of Radio Star that she was one of the trainees with the least training. Things got serious, and even the staff began asking her if she was prepared to go home. Luckily, one sentence from SM Entertainment‘s founder Lee Soo Man saved her!

“When they were making the debut group, I had less training than the others. So at the last minute, a staff had told me that I might not be able to make it to debut, and asked me if I was mentally prepared to go home. They even said that, but at the end, Lee Soo Man said that I should definitely be in the group because my smile on camera was the best advantage, and that it gave such good energy. As soon as I debuted, people said stuff like ‘I became a fan because of Tiffany’s smile’ and stuff after watching the music video for ‘Into The New World.'”

It looks like Lee Soo Man’s tastes and sensibilities are undeniable! Tiffany became one of the most popular members in the group for her eye smile and bright character.
