Female Idol Shocks Netizens By Seemingly Shaving Her Hair Off In New Comeback Teaser
Being a K-Pop idol is about being the whole package, and visuals are a huge part of that. In particular, with each comeback or project, the thought that goes into a female idol’s hair is huge and becomes part of their identity.
The same applies to the Japanese group XG. Since debuting, the members have showcased their individual personalities through their style, but they are also not afraid to go outside the box and break boundaries for art.
XG is set to make a comeback, and on May 16, they posted the first teaser with member Cocona.
Netizens couldn’t hide their shock when the video started and the idol was seen shaving her hair from the top to the back. While they didn’t show much, the idol was seen moving the shaver across her hair while wearing a silver dress.
When the video was posted, it wasn’t surprising that netizens were shocked by what they had seen. On YouTube, netizens shared their thoughts after watching the video.
Although it wasn’t confirmed if she did it or not, they thought Cocona was extremely cool and some even thought it was a great way of highlighting female empowerment.

In particular, while fans didn’t know whether to believe that Cocona had really shaved her hair off for the video, photos of the idol from airport appearances saw her wearing a hat and making netizens even more suspicious.

As always, the members of XG are not afraid to take risks and try out new things. Hair is extremely important in Japan and Asian countries, with many saying it symbolizes feminity, but also, in ancient Asian cultures, haircuts used to symbolize banishment or rejection from home. With the video, Cocona is hitting back at those thoughts and finding a new way to showcase power and strength.
