On May 19 (KST), SEVENTEEN announced that Jeonghan and Wonwoo would be releasing their first single album called This Man. A few hours later, they released a visual teaser.

The video perfectly teased what netizens could expect with an air of mystery but also excitement.

When the clip was shared, netizens accused Pledis Entertainment of plagiarizing, claiming that the concept had copied aespa’s previous teasers.

Netizens shared their thoughts and believed it was “plagiarism.”

Yet, netizens quickly hit back at claims after believing they found the artist who created the concept. The @ohso0hwan posted the clip on his Instagram stories…

Netizens noticed the same account also posted the aespa concept video that SEVENTEEN allegedly plagiarized, with many pointing out that the same person must have worked on both.

Also, by looking at the designer’s website, there seemed to be many similar projects done that all match the same aesthetic, and it isn’t odd for artists to do that to create a special identity with their work.

When CARATs found the designer, they hit back at the “plagiarism” claims, saying that aespa didn’t own the concept, but it was an aesthetic that the creator had been using for many years and for many projects, including for brands like Gentle Monster, Samsung, and many more.

While the issue of plagiarism, especially recently, has become a hot topic, netizens think it’s impossible to claim this was the case when both teasers were seemingly created by the same person.
