Why TWICE’s Nayeon Was So Thankful Towards Tzuyu During Their Debut

Not just Nayeon, the whole group benefitted.

TWICE‘s Nayeon and Tzuyu enjoyed a lunch date together, where they opened up about the member they can’t imagine being left alone with, why Nayeon can’t “be naughty” with Mina, and more.

After Tzuyu shared that she often would turn to Nayeon for advice, Nayeon shyly shared what she was grateful to Tzuyu for. She opened up about how proud she was during their debut with “Like OOH-AHH” that Tzuyu was part of their group.

There were many times I was so grateful and proud that you were part of our team. This is so embarrassing. I’m saying this because I thought about it often. I was really grateful that you were in our team.

— Nayeon

According to Nayeon, it’s all thanks to Tzuyu’s immense popularity that TWICE received a lot of attention. She was the reason why many people took interest in the group and learned more about the other eight members.

People paid a lot of attention to us in the beginning because of you. And because of you, they had a chance to get to know the rest of us. You played a big role in kickstarting our career, so I really want to thank you. Really. I mean it.

— Nayeon

Smiling, Tzuyu graciously accepted Nayeon’s words. Her appreciation for Tzuyu was clear as day!

In 2015, TWICE was formed through a survival program called Sixteen where JYP Entertainment trainees fought for a place in the debut lineup. Tzuyu originally did not make the final cut but was added after winning the online voting, representing the audience’s opinion.
