Taeyong enlisted for his mandatory military service on April 15. He is serving as an active-duty Navy soldier and is expected to be discharged from the military on December 15, 2025.

Although he is busy fulfilling his duty, NCTzens have been blessed with many updates and photos of their idol. In some recent photos, they noticed his smile was different than usual. Taeyong had braces!

Previously, Taeyong had expressed the desire to get braces again, as he previously had them years ago. So, it looks like he was able to get them while fulfilling his military service.

Some NCTzens were disappointed that Taeyong’s cute “bunny teeth” would likely be affected by the braces.

Still, many were happy for Taeyong, knowing he wanted to get braces. Some even commended him for it. They were relieved he chose braces over another cosmetic teeth procedure: veneers.

K-Pop idols’ choice of cosmetic teeth procedures has been a hot topic, as more appear to have allegedly gotten dental veneers recently.

Dental veneers are thin, tooth-colored shells that are attached to the front surface of teeth to improve their appearance. They can be used to treat cosmetic concerns like chipped, broken, discolored, or smaller-than-average teeth. Dental veneers are often made from porcelain or resin-composite materials and are permanently bonded to your teeth.

Some people may only get one veneer in the case of a broken or chipped tooth, but many get between six to eight veneers in order to create an even, symmetrical smile.

The top front eight teeth are the most commonly applied veneers.

Dental veneers, a white covering bonded to one’s teeth, have long been popular in Hollywood. It gives the appearance of “perfect” teeth but can result in almost an “uncanny valley” appearance, as it doesn’t always look natural.

Of the K-Pop idols, 5th gen girl group ILLIT is often the subject of conversation concerning teeth, as netizens believe their teeth look different from before. Netizens allege that it appears members have received veneers, while some argued it was the result of teeth whitening and/or other procedures.
