ITZY‘s Lia has surprised fans with her first update in nearly 10 months since her hiatus began.
In September 2023, JYP Entertainment announced that Lia would be taking a break from her activities to address health concerns.
The company revealed that she was experiencing tension and anxiety during her busy schedule and, after consulting with a specialist, she was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder.
Lia, along with the other ITZY members and the company, decided it was best for her to focus on treatment. Consequently, she missed the promotions of ITZY’s new album and the group’s world tour that’s been on going since January.
Throughout her hiatus, updates on Lia’s condition have been scarce.
Fans saw a glimpse of her when she attended ITZY’s concert in Seoul, an emotional event that left many in tears.

Another brief update came when ITZY members launched their personal Instagram account, and Lia shared a few old photos to celebrate.

However — after so long — the day has finally come! Today, fans were thrilled to receive not one but two new photos of Lia on the ITZY FANS app, a communication platform for idols and their fanclubs.
In the first photo, Lia is seen wearing a cap, and in the second, she is holding her dog Bella. The accompanying message added by Lia herself only made fans even more emotional and excited: “Fighting for today, Bella and I are cheering for you.”
The unexpcted update definitely caught MIDZYs off guard, but they are more than happy to received good news. The words “Lia Update” even started trending on X (formerly known as Twitter) — with fans celeberating the star’s new photos. The touching message and photos have given fans hope and excitement for Lia’s eventual return to ITZY as a five-member group.
