Popular Mukbang YouTuber Tzuyang Allegedly Blackmailed By Fellow YouTubers
It was recently reported in Korean media that popular mukbang YouTuber Tzuyang has been the target of blackmail. A group that calls themselves the “tow truck union” has been threatening her. In Korean slang, the term “reg-ka,” translated literally as “tow truck,” is a nickname given to YouTube accounts that stir up negative public sentiment towards celebrities through video content of unverified information. An example would be the infamous Sojang.
The union consists of YouTubers Hwang Chul Soo, Gujeyeok, Crocodile, Gango, Carancula, Uhm Tae Woong, and more. It was claimed that the union has been receiving millions of won from Tzuyang by threatening her with her past. According to a voice recording of a phone call, it was alleged that Gujeyeok had been directly threatening Tzuyang’s staff. They claimed that if they spread the materials on hand about her, she would be forced into retirement. They also allegedly claimed that she could not refuse the deal as it would be better to solve the issue financially.
Gujeyeok also bragged that they bought a new GV80 car with money made from such means. They further claimed that Tzuyang has been giving ₩6.00 million KRW (about $4,340 USD) a month to girls that she previously worked with as hush money. They claim not to be afraid of being sued, as it would only result in a small fine compared to the money they could make off her.
Gujeyeok claimed to have already received ₩11.0 million KRW (about $7,950 USD) from Tzuyang’s representatives. The recording also revealed that they signed a contract with Tzuyang’s representatives for around ₩55.0 million KRW (about $39,700 USD).
Tzuyang is a mukbang TouTuber with over 10 million subscribers. Conversely, Gujeyeok’s channel only has around 192,000 subscribers.
