The Popular 3rd Gen K-Pop Boy Group Whose Debut Song Is Rising On Music Charts
In an era where girl groups are still more often charting higher and more often on Korean music charts than boy groups, it can be a pleasant surprise when a boy group song ends up leaping onto the charts, especially if it’s an older song that no one expected!
We recently talked about the seven K-Pop boy groups that have songs ranking in the top 100 of the MelOn chart: RIIZE, SEVENTEEN, DAY6, BTS, TWS, PLAVE, and N.Flying. They have a mix of both recently-released songs and years-old songs that are ranking high on MelOn, with the oldest of them being DAY6’s “You Were Beautiful”, released in February 2017.
DAY6 has been making an impressive return to music charts in general since the members recently completed their military service, and now they have another accomplishment to be proud of: Their debut song, “Congratulations”, is starting to rise on Korean music charts nearly a decade after it came out!
The song originally came out on September 7, 2015 on DAY6’s The Day debut album, and even then, the album peaked at #2 on the Billboard World Albums chart, an impressive feat for a Korean band at the time and even to this day. For a while, “Congratulations” has been hovering around the 500 mark on the MelOn daily chart, but in the past few weeks it has steadily risen to where it has now peaked at #154.
While this wasn’t a song that many expected to make a sudden leap on the music charts, Korean netizens agree that “Congratulations” is a classic song that definitely deserves the recognition.
- “To be honest, this was DAY6’s best song.”
- “I know that this was their only title track with the six members’ voices but I really liked it.”
- “All of DAY6’s songs are climbing up the chart. It’s just a question of time.”
- “I became a fan after listening to this song.”
- “Congratulations is the standard. Let’s go higher, fighting.”
- “I like this song, I still listen to it often these days.”
- “As soon as Congratulations came out, I liked it so much that I remember listening to it all the time… This is a song that should be talked about again and again.”
- “I can’t believe that Congratulations is their debut song… it’s too good…”
- “Please listen to Congratulations’ English version too. It has that high teen vibe.”
Congratulations to DAY6 for this accomplishment with “Congratulations”!
