What Makes Each ENHYPEN Member Unique In The Recording Booth, According To Heeseung
ENHYPEN recently made a comeback with their album ROMANCE : UNTOLD.
In an interview with Weverse Magazine, Heeseung talked about his experience as a producer in the making of this album. Included here were his observations on the strengths of each member whenever they enter the recording booth.
Check them out below!
1. Jungwon
First up, he pointed out that Jungwon has the kind of voice that simply stands out from the crowd.
I think Jungwon has really unique vocals. No matter how much mixing you do, someone with a really distinct vocal tone just cuts right through, and that’s Jungwon.
— Heeseung
2. Jay
Jay, meanwhile, is unique with his decisive personality. He does not need as much guidance as he already knows exactly what he wants to pull off.
Then there’s Jay, who knows exactly what kind of music he likes and what kind of style he’s after—the thing he’s looking for.
— Heeseung
3. Jake
Jake’s English accent gives an added flavor to the Korean songs of ENHYPEN.
That sense of individuality—I like that about him. Jake…growing up overseas gives him an edge, honestly. (laughs) His English pronunciation just naturally spills over into his Korean, and it sounds amazing.
— Heeseung
4. Sunghoon
Sunghoon‘s versatility as a singer cannot be undermined, according to Heeseung.
Sunghoon just has a fundamentally good voice, so he fits in no matter what he’s singing.
— Heeseung
5. Sunoo
Sunoo’s voice may match ballads best, but this exact gentle quality adds an interesting twist to ENHYPEN’s fast-paced songs.
For Sunoo, I think his voice is naturally suited for ballads, but there’s something special about a singer with such a gentle voice performing a song with big moments or a fast tempo.
— Heeseung
6. Ni-Ki
Last but certainly not the least, Heeseung is certain that Ni-Ki should rap even more than he currently does given his deep voice.
Ni-Ki, I hope, will rap more, personally. You really have to be born with the right voice to be good at rapping, and with Ni-Ki’s deep voice? I mean, come on!
