Popular Korean Singer Declares She Will “Never” Date Publicly
Popular singer and variety star Lee Young Ji has made it clear that she has no intention of ever making her romantic relationships public.
Lee shared her candid views on dating and public relationships during her guest episode on Shin Dong Yup‘s YouTube show.
The young singer, in her early twenties, emphasized the importance of experiencing various emotions through dating during one’s youth. She advises her juniors to date extensively with a clear mind, believing that the heartbreaks, betrayals, and regrets encountered in early adulthood help individuals understand people better as they grow older.

Lee mentioned the challenges celebrities face when it comes to dating, noting that public scrutiny makes it incredibly difficult.
Reflecting on the current digital age, Young Ji expressed her frustration with the lack of privacy, saying that nowadays, everything is so open and easily shared. Despite not being frequently recognized, she finds herself hesitating to date due to the fear of being exposed.
When asked if she dislikes public relationships, Lee Young Ji firmly stated that she would never engage in one, no matter the circumstances.
I would never do anything publicly, even if someone were to kill me.

During the episode, Lee also shared her ideal type: she humorously described someone with healthy organs and no chronic illnesses.
She added that values, beliefs, or religion do not matter to her. What she seeks is someone who is dedicated to their work and has a clean mindset. Young Ji then joked that — since she plans to earn a lot of money — she would prefer a partner who can manage her finances well.

Despite the joking nature of Lee’s statement — her being so firm on not dating publicly says a lot about the current state of celebrity relationships and public reception in the Korean entertainment sphere.
