The parents of NewJeans‘ members have spoken out in unison against HYBE and Source Music. This article will provide a full translation of Hyein and Haerin‘s mother.
On July 24, Sports World released a bombshell report in which the parents of NewJeans’ members vehemently criticized Source Music while voicing their support for ADOR. According to the report, the interview was a direct response to Dispatch’s previous article which has been refuted by ADOR, with the label vowing to take legal action. The following are the full translations of Hyein and Haerin‘s mothers’ statements.
Hyein And Haerins’ Mothers: “The Three Days We Were Falsely Labeled NewFTY Was Nightmarish”
Haerin and Hyein’s mother also stated that they were very happy with ADOR and had no plans to leave.
We have never thought about or planned on leaving ADOR. Our exclusive contract is with ADOR and we are more than happy with the label so we have no reason to leave.

The mothers then criticized HYBE’s media play, stating “Then in April, HYBE made it seem like we were betraying the company and trying to leave. We were attacked and labeled as NewFTY (derived from FIFTY FIFTY). At that time, it felt like a nightmare.”
The members’ mothers recounted similar experiences with Source Music during their daughters’ time as trainees under the label, before criticizing Source Music CEO So Sung Jin.
We didn’t hear back for months after Source Music’s final evaluation for debuting trainees. All of the members were nervous thinking they wouldn’t debut and we didn’t hear anything from Source Music’s CEO until we moved to ADOR.
If Source Music feels as if they were so wronged, why didn’t they explain to us then? There was a change and it’s only right that So Sung Jin should have given us an explanation but there was none of that. When we signed, he told us everything we wanted to hear but we’ve never met him since.
— Hyein and Haerin’s mothers
Hyein’s mother further explained that when her daughter first signed as a trainee, it was with the understanding that she would be working towards debuting as the first HYBE girl group.
When we first signed with Source Music, it was with the understanding that Big Hit (now HYBE) promised that (NewJeans) would be the first girl group and that Source Music was the only label that was accepting female trainees. We were told this when we signed. We welcomed Min Hee Jin and the move to ADOR even more.

The mothers then stated “We aren’t the only ones who remember how Source Music neglected NewJeans while they were trainees. All of the members remember.” The mothers then warned that there was more evidence of neglect that they could reveal.
Currently, there is more evidence revealing HYBE’s neglect towards NewJeans. I wonder if they want us to reveal them all.
— Hyein and Haerin’s mothers
Haerin’s mother then criticized HYBE for releasing a music video with the group’s members without ADOR’s permission.
Seeing how they released the content without receiving permission despite the fact the members are in a different label makes me question whether HYBE has any professional ethics.
— Hyein and Haerin’s mothers
The mothers then emphasized that they just wish for HYBE to leave NewJeans and ADOR alone, stating “Why are they keep harassing the label (ADOR) when we are doing fine on our own? We’ve spoken with HYBE’s directors many times. I’ve never met people that were so hard to get through to. We don’t understand HYBE.”
