Ice Spice Accused Of Plagiarizing (G)I-DLE’s Music Video For “Nxde”
Western singer Ice Spice has been accused of plagiarizing (G)I-DLE‘s music video for “Nxde.” In particular, they point out the similarities in the museum scenes from both music videos. “Nxde” features Soyeon in a museum glass enclosure, with disdained patrons around her.
Similarly, Ice Spice’s museum scene in “Oh Shhh…” has her surrounded by disgusted-looking patrons. They are also both dressed in lavish white outfits, with the enclosures surrounded by red rope.
Fans have voiced out the glaring similarities, accusing Ice Spice of copying the K-Pop girl group.
I’m sorry but this is literally plagiarism… the scene, the editing, the styling even transitions look same … nevies shouldn’t keep silent and the original NXDE director should know about this
This is already 2nd time idle gets copied pic.twitter.com/bauTF1bCC1

Many other fans agree.
the first valid plagiarism claim in kpop in a while and it's by a western artist😭 https://t.co/ecu9qLK9Xo

Some fans also called out the stark difference in messages, hinting that Ice Spice’s use of the scene in her song undermines that of (G)I-DLE’s. “Nxde” is about how women and children are often sexualized against their will. On the other hand, “Oh Shhh…” takes a highly provocative tone as the singer embraces her sexuality.
They are so similar yet they deliver different messages. How did she manage to copy soyeon and make it a shitty copy https://t.co/LQRFPETSyu

On the other hand, some audiences do not agree with the claims.

They bring up Cardi B’s music video for “Money,” which was launched three years prior to “Nxde.” It also features a museum scene.
