Kim Jong Un’s Ozempic Era? — North Korean Supreme Leader Reportedly Searching For Weight Loss Medications
Kim Jong Un has reportedly regained all his lost weight and his officials are said to be looking for new medicines abroad to treat the consequential health repercussions. The National Intelligence Service (NIS) of South Korea reported that the 40-year-old North Korean leader is suffering from problems such as high blood pressure and diabetes.
Kim, who is known for his heavy drinking and smoking, has a family history of cardiac issues. His father and grandfather, both of whom ruled North Korea before he inherited power, passed away from heart issues. According to observers, the 170 centimeter tall Kim Jong Un previously weighed 140 kgs but appeared to shed quite a few pounds in 2021, presumably a change in diet. However, as per his recent sightings, the supreme leader seems to have put on weight again.
On August 29, KST, the NIS informed South Korean lawmakers in a closed-door briefing that Kim has put on all the lost weight again and is in a high-risk bracket for heart disease. Lawmaker Lee Seong Kweun told the media that according to NIS’s findings, Kim Jong Un has suffered from symptoms of high blood pressure and diabetes since his 30s. Park Sunwon, another lawmaker, revealed that the NIS suspects Kim’s drinking, smoking, and stress have contributed to this health crisis.
Both the lawmakers quoted the NIS and said that the North Korean officials are currently trying to obtain new medications from abroad that can treat Kim Jong Un. Due to the highly secretive nature of North Korea, outsiders cannot possibly know about Kim’s health completely. Even the NIS doesn’t have a very clean record in this matter.
Kim Jong Un’s health is a critical matter that South Korea and other foreign nations pay close attention to, as he is yet to select his descendant who would take over the charge of North Korea’s advancing nuclear arsenal. However, according to NIS and other intelligence agencies are speculating that Kim Ju Ae, Kim Jong Un’s pre-teen daughter might be her father’s heir.
