Turkey’s Silver Medalist Olympian Goes Viral In Korea

Turkish shooter Yusuf Dikeç met with unprecedented fame at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Dikeç is one of those Olympians of this year who went into the game as underdogs and came out as legends. Despite finishing second in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team shooting, he has managed to completely overshadow the gold medalist, simply through his swagger.

Social media is currently abuzz with pictures of him taking the aim, standing in a casual t-shirt and jeans. While his opponents boasted state-of-the-art gear, including blur lenses, eye sets, and so on, Dikeç took his shot without even ear protection, estimating his target with nothing but his regular prescription glasses. With one hand in his pocket and the stance of an experienced hitman, his pictures have become a social media sensation, much like South Korea’s Kim Yeji.

Dikeç later clarified that he prefers shooting without any gears as it helps him focus better. This response has only amplified his fan following, and South Korea seems to be no exception.

In a viral post on Theqoo, a user posted Dikeç’s iconic photos from the game, adding that he was dressed as if to take a walk around the neighborhood. The post, which has garnered over 60,000 views at the time of writing, has been swarmed by netizens swooning over his charisma.
