Felix uploaded a photo via his personal Instagram account. It featured a 32-oz. Deadpool topper cup, as Felix appeared to be in the movie theater. He tagged Deadpool & Wolverine stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, adding, “Hope to see 90 year old Wolverine and Deadpool.”

Some comments said the cup topper was really cute, while others hoped Felix enjoyed the movie.

However, many called Felix out for promoting the film during an ongoing boycott. Disney and Marvel (which is owned by Disney) are currently highly encouraged to boycott.

Since October 2023, “at least 39,623 people were killed and 91,469 wounded in Israel’s war on Gaza,” according to Al Jazeera. Palestinians are displaced, hurt, starving, and lost family, friends, and more. As the rest of the world has become increasingly aware of the crimes against Palestine, people are hoping to make a difference by boycotting all companies that associate or side with Israel and profiting from the illegal occupation of Palestine.

Disney is one of the top brands named as a boycott target by the BDS (Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions) movement. The reason is that Disney made an official announcement that it will be pledging $2m and further initiatives to support Israel. Whilst the CEO explicitly condemned attacks on Jews in Israel, he made no mention of the Palestinian people who are being killed by the Israeli military.”

The boycott of Disney and Marvel, specifically, was recently reemphasized after the trailer for the upcoming film Captain America: Brave New World was released. The film will include the character Sabra (Ruth Bat-Seraph), who works for Mossad, the Israeli secret service. Sabra is portrayed by Israeli actress Shira Haas, who actually did volunteer service in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

Considering this, many fans are disappointed by Felix’s promotion of a Marvel film. Yet, some STAYs feel their fellow fans’ criticism is misdirected, as they think Felix is the sole target of criticism and there is a double standard.

Felix’s fans also pointed out that until now, most of the fandom has been praising Stray Kids for their collaboration with Deadpool & Wolverine. The group has long been friendly with actor Ryan Reynolds, who recently appeared, along with Hugh Jackman, in their new MV “Chk Chk Boom.” Likewise, Bang Chan and Felix interviewed the actors ahead of the film’s release. Stray Kids also released OST “SLASH,” which appears in the movie.

This wouldn’t be the first time Stray Kids members have been criticized for their collaborations. Previously, Felix even apologized for endorsing Coca-Cola, which is also part of the ongoing boycott. Read more below.
