NCT’s Jaemin Comes Under Fire For Recent Post
NCT‘s Jaemin has come under fire for his recent Weverse post.
On August 15, Jaemin shared a photo of himself with the caption “[I’ve] arrived,” as the members have arrived in Japan ahead of various schedules.
However, the timing of the post with the Japanese caption has drawn criticism. “Gwangbokjeol” is a public holiday celebrated every year on August 15, and it commemorates the liberation of Korea from Japanese rule in 1945.
It meant that when Jaemin posted the image with the Japanese text, it gained a lot of criticism from netizens who found the post to be disrespectful.
- “What’s with everyone today?”
- “It’s Liberation Day. Please.”
- “Looking at the comments, there seems to be a track record…”
- “Seriously, what’s his problem?”
- “There’s NEVER anything good going viral about this guy.”
- “Is he being sarcastic? Or is he just ignorant?”
- “It’s weird that a Korean would use Japanese on a day like this.”
- “Nothing in his brain.”
- “He didn’t think of raising the Korean flag, but he’s raising a Japanese flag instead. Isn’t that really funny? lol”
- “What…”
- “He’s really over the line.”
- “He doesn’t even come by Weverse that often, yet he’s posting stuff like this today—so tasteless.”
- “If he’s Korean, he should know what today is.”
Stray Kids‘ Felix also came under fire for his post on Korea’s Liberation Day, but quickly apologized.
