K-Pop Idol Asking For Fan’s Number Sparks Massive Criticism
Recently, a fan sign video with NCT WISH’s Riku sparked massive debate online.
During the event, a fan asked if they could just be Riku’s younger sister instead of his girlfriend.
Can I be your younger sister instead of your girlfriend (Sorry I thought he would just say ok).
— OP
Do you want to be my real girlfriend secretly?
— Riku
Your real girlfriend???
— OP
You already have a lot though (talking about fans).
— OP
No, no I don’t have a real girlfriend.
— Riku
Ok…
— OP
Then can you write down your phone number?
— Riku
You want me to write my phone number? (Sir then I…)
— OP
However, many fans questioned if they really gave their number, causing the OP to clear up any confusion.
“Question: Did Riku really ask for your number…I think I’m going to go crazy.
OP: I can’t even say anything because I’m in total shock. Do you think this is real? Please, everyone, get a grip. The staff tells us to stop touching when even our hands touch for one second. This was just for laughs. Those that are actually taking this seriously are crazy. After that question, I just moved on straight to the next question. Please spread this.”
With the video gaining more and more views, the OP posted a long statement regarding why they ended up deleting the video after posting it for just ten minutes.
“I’m in such shock that I don’t know where even to begin explaining. This video was posted in the early morning and deleted after ten minutes. But people have already recorded the video and are posting it. Most of you have never been to a fan sign event before, seeing that you don’t understand the atmosphere. First, for NCT fan sign events, there is the staff behind the member, and even if your hand brushes them even the slightest, they warn you not to touch them.
I mean, for those taking this seriously, how are you even doing K-Pop. There are many fan sign videos of fans doing similar things, so I just did it for fun, too. I don’t understand why this has to be so serious and why I must explain myself.
I didn’t give him my number, and it wasn’t a serious atmosphere. I just moved on to the next question. I swear I didn’t have a private account, so I didn’t know there was a negative response to the member. As soon as someone told me about it, I took it down as it could affect the members’ image. If it’s my fault for not predicting that something like this would happen, then I apologize. So please stop with your obsession. I feel so guilty, and my heart hurts that a member is getting hated on because of me.”
