Influencer Amy Denies Outing Allegations — Comes To Understanding With Alleged Victim

They talked things out.

Influencer Amy, known for her short romance with iShowSpeed and for originating the hwachae craze on TikTok, was previously accused of outing an LGBTQ+ schoolmate and spreading rumors about them.

Amy outed me and spread rumors that I went around hitting on girls, causing my social life to be f*cking ruined. I really hate how she’s becoming famous.

After the tweet accusing her went viral, it seems like Amy had a talk with the OP via Instagram DMs. Although the previous messages were not revealed to the public, OP seems to hit back at Amy with three points, alluding to possible threats by Amy about a lawsuit. They posted a screenshot of their DMs with Amy, captioning it, “Yeah, got threatened as a result.

  • OP: “1. About [revealing] your personal information, you’re an influencer so it’s all public anyway. 2. I did not steal your photos to upload, but I just uploaded the photos that I already had anyway. They’re simply photos that not many have of you since you are an influencer. 3. I understand your point about slander, given that you’re someone that lives off their image. But in that case, I can also counter-sue you for slander…”
  • OP: “Lina isn’t purposely avoiding you, but she probably can’t be contacted through her Korean number because she’s in the states.”
  • OP: “And it’s 4 or 5am for both me and Lina right now.”
  • Amy: “Yeah, I already messaged her. It’s also 6am for me now. And as for 1 and 2, you’ll find out about it soon.”
  • Amy: “As for 3, you have to have a name for it to be slandered.”
  • OP: “Okay, do as you please LOL.”

Amy has since denied the allegations through a lengthy Instagram post.

Hello, this is Amy.
I apologize for any concern I may have caused.

Firstly, I want to clarify that the malicious allegations against me are untrue. I have never maliciously spread rumors about anyone.

The photo posted on Twitter was taken during a school trip in June 2016.

Due to the nature of the international school I attended, which had a small student body, we participated in activities together as classmates. However, this person and I were not close due to differences in age and personality. From what I remember, this individual was quiet and reserved.

Before attending the international school, I lived abroad from ages 7 to 15. During my time living abroad, I made friends from diverse backgrounds, and I continue to have friends with various gender identities both in Korea and around the world.

Spending time with friends of diverse backgrounds has taught me to understand and respect others. Therefore, I find it unacceptable to demean anyone‘s gender identity.

I urgently request that you refrain from posting speculative comments about these false accusations made against me.

I will be taking legal action against further distorted claims or false information. As these statements involve defamation, I will pursue legal measures against those responsible without any negotiation or leniency.

Once again, I sincerely apologize for any distress this situation may have caused.
Thank you.

A couple of hours after Amy’s apology, it seems like the two have come to a compromise. OP’s last update on the matter claimed that the incident was concluded.

I’ve ended my talk with Amy. As things happened 10 years ago, it was my oversight that I did not even think about talking things out, and posted it on Twitter. There were many misunderstandings because we have different recollections of it. My Twitter was originally used just to keep an eye on things, and I had close to no followers. I was taken aback that the words I thought were just said to myself suddenly spread like that. I acknowledge that it was my fault for uploading the photos and explanation. I talked on the phone with Amy for an hour, and I also heard the POV of a third party friend. We’ve concluded things already. Amy said that while it was true about the rumors of my sexuality being outed, she claims not to have personally done so. I’ve come to an understanding so I will delete the posts.
