The Rising K-Drama Actress Who Was Rejected 1,000 Times
Some actors are fortunate to debut shortly after they begin auditioning for roles, but that wasn’t the case for one rising star.
Actress Go Min Si is best known for her roles in Love Alarm, Sweet Home, Youth of May, and–most recently--The Frog, where she plays a ruthless killer who wreaks havoc at a guesthouse. Go Min Si began her acting career in 2016 at the age of 21 and has been steadily gaining recognition for her acting ever since.
Although Go Min Si’s career is taking off now, she struggled to land roles in the past. She was reportedly rejected about 1,000 times while auditioning. Some actors might have quit after facing so much rejection, but Go Min Si used her failures as a learning experience.
In the beginning, it was tough. I wondered, ‘Why am I not getting chosen? How many more times do I have to fail to land even a single role?’ But as I got used to it, I became more determined. I started recognizing why I failed and tried to correct those mistakes for the next audition.
If I have to audition for roles in the future, I can still do it. I always find joy in challenges. I plan to keep running without resting.

Her versatility and talent are now being acknowledged by viewers and other professionals, such as the director of Sweet Home, Lee Eung Bok, who said Go Min Si “brings her own style to any dialogue,” and veteran actress Kim Hye Soo, who told her, “Min Si, it feels like your time has finally come.”
