New SM Entertainment Idol Group Is Going Viral, But They’re Not K-Pop

We’re ready to be ahjummas!

A new idol group is going viral, but they’re not exactly K-Pop.

MYTRO is an upcoming five-member trot boy group formed through the SM Entertainment and TV Chosun reality program Falling for a Trot-dol: Lovestruck Noonas.

A preview was released recently, introducing five members. The group consists of former MR.MR member and Mr. Trot 2 contestant Tey, actor Seo Woohyeok, SMROOKIESShohei, actor Jung Yoonjae, and former Mr. Trot 2 contestant Im Chaepyoung.

Clips have circulated on social media, exciting netizens for their upcoming debut. They went viral on X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok with 3.9M+ and 634K+ views, respectively, at the time of writing.

Trot idols are usually associated with ahjumma (older or middle-aged women) fans, who are dedicated and loyal. Yet, the released clips have all ages ready to stan. Many are self-claiming themselves ahjummas prematurely.

Truly older fans are also happy to see a group debuting with no minors but men in their 20s.

However, some K-Pop fans are already fearing the challenge of voting against them, knowing their fanbase will be so dedicated and large. Many are happy for the idols debuting as they have been through their own challenges. One of these is Shohei.

The show is set to premiere in the first week of October, and the group’s debut date is unknown at this time.
