On September 16, photos and videos circulated on social media showing EXO‘s Baekhyun smoking an e-cigarette indoors when he was in Macau earlier in the year.

Shortly after the material was picked up by netizens and media outlets, Baekhyun’s company INB100 made a statement apologizing, explaining that he and staff were unaware of Macau’s laws on e-cigarettes, where idividuals are barred from either bringing this type of product into Macao or from taking it out of the city.

We sincerely apologize to everyone who felt uncomfortable regarding the recent incident involving our artist Baekhyun’s indoor smoking, which has been circulating online.

At the time, neither Baekhyun nor our staff were aware that Macau prohibits the importation of electronic cigarettes. During a meal with staff after the Macau performance, as the conversation deepened, Baekhyun unconsciously used an electronic cigarette.

Baekhyun deeply regrets his careless actions and sincerely apologizes for disappointing many fans.
