On September 19, BLACKPINK’s Jennie released a voice message through her agency’s official channel and called her fans “Rubies.”
Many fans speculated that this was Jennie’s official fandom name. However, this caused a misunderstanding with solo artist Kwon Eun Bi’s fandom, as her fandom name was RUBI.

With the issue garnering much attention, Jennie’s agency, OA Entertainment, released an official statement through media outlet Xportsnews.

However, even with the statement, Korean netizens felt that it would’ve been more appropriate for them to apologize.

Jennie’s English name is Jennie Ruby Jane, but she called her fans “Ruby,” which is a part of her name. It was also revealed previously that she registered a trademark for “Jennie Ruby Jane.”
On the other hand, Jennie prepares for a solo comeback in October.
