MAMAMOO’s Hwasa Turns Around Criticism With Her New Song
On September 19, KST, MAMAMOO member Hwasa made her much-awaited comeback with her mini album O and title song “NA.”
Before the official release of the song, “NA” was teased through multiple teasers that gave a sneak peek of the chorus. Based on those snippets, many netizens were left feeling disappointed as they predicted the song would sound like another typical PSY track instead of containing Hwasa’s flair.
The dance challenge of “NA” also garnered some pushback as many felt that the moves looked out of place and strange.
But with the song’s release, it seems that much of the public opinion has turned around. In a theqoo post discussing Hwasa’s comeback, most netizens reacted positively to both the song and the music video despite the PSY-like chorus.
- “I listened to it out of curiosity. Why do I like the song so much?”
- “The beginning is so good, but then the chorus suddenly feels so PSY…”
- “The opening part is f*cking good, though?”
- “Everything else, other than the parts that are PSY-like, is good!”
- “The beginning is really good, and the other parts are okay too. But the main hook feels too much like PSY, which is a bit disappointing.”
- “The verses are amazing, but why this chorus?!”
- “Surprisingly charming! The song, music video, and styling are all great!”
