The encore concert was already special for IU fans as it celebrated her successful world tour that kicked off in March 2024 and lasted through 31 concerts in Asia, Europe, and North America.

But IU made it truly unforgettable when she began strumming her guitar and performed “Bye Summer”—a number never heard before.

The performance immediately went viral, with online K-Pop communities like theqoo buzzing over when it might be released.

  • “It was so good, for real.”
  • Unnie, please release it… The song’s so good.”
  • “Wow, I haven’t seen IU on the guitar in such a long time…”
  • “Please release the song, unnie… I fell in love with it as soon as I heard it last night.”
  • “Release it, please! It’s so good.”
  • “So good…”

Those who attended the concert, though, shared the sad news that IU wasn’t planning on releasing it as the song was “made just for the encore concert.”

About IU’s unreleased song, “Bye Summer”

IU said she usually doesn’t like summer. But this summer, when she was on tour around the world, has been one of the best she has had. And it felt longer than usual. So she wrote this song. She isn’t planning on releasing it at all—it’s a special treat made just for the encore concert. It started raining very lightly when she started singing the song. The rain ended when the performance was over, it was so magical.

Of course, given the demand, IU might change her mind. Fans can only hope!
