aespa’s Karina And Yoo Jae Suk-Starrer KBS Show Flops In Ratings
Synchro U, the KBS show that marked Yoo Jae Suk’s comeback to the network after three years, has shown disappointing performance in terms of viewership.
The show aimed to target a wide range of audiences, including popular TV personalities, comedians, and idols on its panel. aespa’s Karina is also a cast member of this show, marking her big debut in an entertainment program.
Despite the star cast, Synchro U has failed to garner favorable responses from audiences. Since the very pilot, the reception was mixed. It recorded 2.0% and 1.8% ratings nationwide. Many felt that the format was too similar to Hidden Singer. Karina was also criticized for her supposed lack of variety show skills.
Though the pilot failed to secure a good footing, the show was released as a regular broadcast, with the first episode being aired during the Chuseok holiday. It recorded a 3.7% viewer rating, showing some hopeful ascent.
But from the second episode, the popularity of the show went down drastically. It recorded a rating of 1.8%, cut in half from the previous episode. Many opined that the show’s poor performance was due to the incompetence of the panelists. Some have also blamed the low quality of the music performances for the bad ratings as well.
While Synchro U had created quite the buzz, especially thanks to Yoo Jae Suk and Karina’s appearance, fans are disappointed by the program’s clumsy nature. But with only two episodes aired so far, there is enough time for things to change.
