NCT’s Doyoung Guests On “Boring” Episode Of “I Live Alone” Which Hit Lowest Ratings Of The Year
MBC‘s flagship reality show, I Live Alone, has hit a new low this year, with its latest episode recording the lowest viewership of 2024. According to Nielsen Korea, the episode that aired on September 27 only managed to attract 5.1% of the national audience, a significant drop from the previous week’s 7.2%.
The ratings came as a shock considering NCT Doyoung‘s appearance, a much-loved top K-Pop star.
Despite the star-studded lineup and personal moments, the show seems to be losing its appeal, as it saw a noticeable decline in ratings. For the first time this year, I Live Alone dropped into the 5% range, signaling potential trouble for the program, which has long been a staple of MBC’s entertainment lineup.
This episode featured NCT member Doyoung, who visited SM Entertainment with gifts to express gratitude to his staff. He prepared a special gift set for the employees, which included homemade cookies, supplements, and candles. However, after getting shy, he asked his manager to deliver the gifts on his behalf. Doyoung’s sweet personality was not enough to keep the episode afloat, unfortunately.
The episode also included regular cast member Jun Hyun Moo, who ventured out for his first photography trip as part of his “Moojin-sa” series. He was joined by actor Cha Seo Won, a certified photographer, as they took pictures at a location that held special memories of Cha’s military service. Jun Hyun Moo also prepared a meal for Cha, serving him various dishes, including a vegetable hot pot and grilled ox heart.
Meanwhile, rival show Three Meals a Day Light, airing on tvN, has continued to perform well, maintaining double-digit ratings for two consecutive weeks. I Live Alone‘s recent slump may indicate a need for change as it faces increased competition and evolving audience tastes.
