According to a report by JTBC, on September 29, 2024 (KST), a man approached Jessi to ask for a photo with her. According to the 18-year-old victim, he was walking to a convenience store in Apgujeong when he spotted Jessi and approached her.

CCTV shows a man in Jessi’s group stopping the fan and reportedly swearing at him in English. Jessi reportedly told the fan she could not take a photo and apologized.

The fan also apologized and attempted to leave when another man punched and kicked him.

While the fan was getting the police involved, Jessi’s group reportedly left the scene. The police and the fan eventually found the group, who claimed they did not know who the fan was.

The mother of the victim visited Jessi’s agency in person, where she was reportedly told that the perpetrator was Chinese, didn’t know Jessi, and was a friend of a producer.

The victim then reported the said perpetrator to the police.

Jessi’s agency’s lawyer has addressed the situation stating that Jessi had nothing to do with the assault and that they would help in finding the perpetrator.

Jessi had absolutely nothing to do with this assault incident. Jessi and her agency do not know the male perpetrator at all and he was someone they met for the first time that day.

Police also stated they would check to see if the individual had left the country and also consult the producer to find out information about the perpetrator.

Correction: It was previously stated the agency identified as Jessi’s was UNNI. UNNI is Jessi’s own independent label under DOD Entertainment, however, it was not stated which agency was approached.
