Methods Of “Boycotting” SM Entertainment Following Seunghan’s Departure From RIIZE Spark Major Criticism
Methods of “Boycotting” SMEntertainment following Seunghan‘s departure from RIIZE have sparked criticism.
After Seunghan was announced to leave, netizens started boycotting SM Entertainment and RIIZE products, including some major K-Pop stores.
Recently, an account on X shared that they were going into shops in their area and putting leaflets near albums to make netizens aware of the boycott of RIIZE.
i spent my afternoon placing these with the riize albums at targets in my area 😵💫 y’all if i get banned from target.. at least it was for a good cause (i went to 4, but the last didn’t have any albums)#UnfairExit_Seunghan#UnitedforSeunghan#BringBackRII7E#승한이는_라이즈이야 pic.twitter.com/rEMrnSxL2m

While the opinions were mixed on X, with some international fans praising the actions but others finding it unnecessary, screenshots made it to the Korean forum theqoo along with other photos of fans who had put stickers on albums from other SM artists about the boycott.
Korean netizens criticized the actions, sharing that, along with pointlessness, it could be seen as a crime as it damages property that is intended to be sold.
- “File a lawsuit, let’s go.”
- “It’s the foreign trolls again, lol.”
- “Please file a lawsuit.”
- “On the stuff they’re selling…? That’s too much…”
- “Why are they messing with someone else’s property? lol.”
- “Such a nuisance… This should be reported.”
- “That’s a crime. If reported to the police, they’ll get arrested.”
- “This is crazy…”
